Chicken and veggie farrotto

By Jennifer Weland On August 11, 2013 · Add Comment
Can I just say that I love farro? It’s a whole grain that’s an excellent source of complex carbohydrates–which we all need in a well-balanced diet. It has twice the fiber and protein of modern wheat. Farro is a whole grain that is an excellent source for complex carbohydrates. And while it does contain gluten, the gluten [...]

Chicken & Farro

By Jennifer Weland On August 11, 2013 · Add Comment
Why make an entrée and a salad when you can combine them into one? Even without the chicken, this dish of cauliflower, nutty farro (my favorite), tangy oranges and peppery watercress has enough body to be a meal on its own. High in fiber and full of complex carbs and protein, farro is an ancient [...]

Roasted Arctic Char with Orange Lentil Salad

By Jennifer Weland On July 29, 2013 · Add Comment
This recipe looks so good! I love salmon, but I don’t want it to be the only fish I eat. This eco-friendly, low-mercury artic char is less fishy-tasting than salmon. So, it’s perfect for anyone who either doesn’t like salmon or is a newbie to eating fish. The lentil salad is packed with tangy flavor [...]

Fusilli Salad with Asparagus, Peas and Sun-Dried Tomatoes

By Jennifer Weland On July 27, 2013 · Add Comment
This recipe shows you that something gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free, vegetarian, vegan, optionally nut-free doesn’t have to be taste free! It’s a great summer salad that takes only a few minutes to make. And you can swap ingredients easily. Don’t like peas? Substitute corn or another veggie. Want to add some protein? Serve chicken or [...]

6 tips to deal with PMS (and keep Aunt Flo from kicking your butt)

By Jennifer Weland On July 21, 2013 · Add Comment
I’m going to open the kimono a bit today. That’s one of my favorite expressions to say when someone (or me) shares too much. I’ve been meaning to write this for a while, but seeing as how it’s that time of the month again and I’m on the couch with a heating pad, I figured [...]

The “Ten” Cardio Circuit

By Jennifer Weland On July 19, 2013 · Add Comment
Interval workouts might be the closest thing to a magic calorie-burning bullet you’ll find. Why do they work so well? Because your body likes to be on cruise control. That’s where it’s most gas efficient. But when you push on the gas pedal, as you do in intervals, your body becomes less efficient and has [...]

Legs & Booty Blast Workout

By Jennifer Weland On July 6, 2013 · Add Comment
As a woman, working my lower body is really important. It’s where the largest and most powerful muscles are, so I get a real bang for my buck focusing on them because I burn mega calories. But, I also most want that part of my body to be as perky and tight as it can [...]

Guilt-Free Guacamole

By Jennifer Weland On June 8, 2013 · Add Comment
Like I said in a recent post about mango salsa, I can’t ever turn down chips and homemade guacamole. At it’s core, guacamole is healthy, but because it’s made primarily with avocado, it is a calorie-dense treat. So, you usually need to take a “moderation” approach with it…which is hard, I know! That’s why I [...]

Mango Salsa

By Jennifer Weland On June 7, 2013 · Add Comment
Chips and salsa or homemade guacamole are my kryptonite. I can’t pass them up if they are within 10 feet of me. Salsa with mango or other fruit like fresh peaches adds an unexpected sweetness, which goes well with the sharpness of red onion. Plus, it’s a really easy way to slip more fruit into your [...]

Whole Wheat Banana Veggie Bread

By Jennifer Weland On May 19, 2013 · Add Comment
I love banana bread and zucchini bread, and I’ve been on the hunt for a healthier version. But I couldn’t quite find what I wanted, so I did what I normally do and made my own recipe! This one is based on traditional banana bread, using whole wheat flour and some healthy add-ons like carrot, [...]

Shhhh! 4 Diet Secrets from A-List Spas

By Jennifer Weland On May 11, 2013 · Add Comment
The last two weeks, I’ve been recuperating from a nasty stomach bug that’s been making the rounds. So I’ve been laying low at home on the couch trying to get better. It was a great opportunity to catch up on reading, and I came across some great diet secrets from A-list spas I just had to [...]

    • What People Are Saying …

I have been so pleased and impressed with the connection to Jennifer. She’s extremely knowledgeable, personable, and downright genuine. She makes you feel comfortable and valued while imparting her words of wisdom and tools of the trade. I couldn’t be happier! Janie K
The first strength session in the Challenge kicked my butt! Yay! I burned 328 calories in 40 minutes which I’ve never done at my gym, even in Les Mills classes! Suzi D.
You have been the gentlest, most patient guide and I am so grateful. I feel amazing in my body again and you have so much to do with that! Magi B.
Finished my eight weeks with much sweat. I am amazed at the changes in my body — my weight, my strength, the way I look and how my clothes fit! Thank you, Jennifer Weland!! Suzi D.
Whether it’s 30 minutes or an hour, Jennifer knows how to get the most out of a workout. I consider myself to be in good physical shape, but Jennifer’s workouts always challenge me and I’m always super sore the next day (in the good, ‘damn, I had a fab workout yesterday’ kind of way). Elise A.
Jennifer is just plain fantastic! She is knowledgeable, really supportive and knows how to get it done. She pushes but is really in tune to your needs and provides a well-rounded approach to reclaiming your overall fitness and health. Can’t say enough good things about her coaching and training! Susie T
Thank you to Jennifer for reading me, adjusting and customizing my workouts vs. a one-size-fits-all approach. She took time to assess what my fitness levels were, my goals and if I had any injuries before creating a customized plan for me. During my workout Jennifer not only looked at my form but she adjusted my workout as we went along to ensure my workout was just right, I so appreciate that about her approach. Now I am well on my way to reaching my workout and health goals. Michele W.
Jennifer gave me the confidence to start doing the strength exercises that were missing from my routine, as well as the motivation to increase my workouts. The workouts pushed me, but I knew Jennifer was in my corner rooting for me the whole way. By the end of the 8-Week Challenge I had not only lost weight, but was noticeably stronger. And I wasn’t the only one who noticed! Kristin T.
Jennifer’s group class workouts are intense and require dedication and focus. We leave there feeling like we just did something awesome, and we’re proud of ourselves for doing it. The best part of the class is her encouragement. She’s really there right next to you, helping you not give up. When you’re trying to do push-ups after squats and jumping jacks and your arms are screaming “NO!!!”, Jennifer is right there doing push-ups next to you, telling you “YES. You can do it, Amy. Keep going.” Don’t try to hide in the back of the class (Casey P.!) cuz she will find you!… Read more Amy S.
My workouts with Jennifer in group classes were great! She’s very focused on making sure everyone knows what to do, provides lots of encouragement, and her plan for the workout is extremely organized.  She is great at tailoring the workout to suit any issues you might have (my knees!), while making sure you’re still working hard. And you will work hard. Caroline L.
